American cinematographer Charles Lawton began his career in 1926 as an assistant to cameraman George Folsey. By 1937, Lawton had worked his way up to lighting cameraman where he became especially noted for his outdoor cinematography. During the '50s and '60s, he filmed many exceptional westerns.
