biography
American filmmaker and producer Burt Balaban was originally trained as a combat cameraman for the Marines during WW II. Later he went on to direct and produce television films during the 1950s. At the end of the decade he began working in feature films, though he made very few. Balaban is best known for directing the gangster film, Murder Inc. (1960).
