By his early twenties, Scotland native Brian Hedenberg had acquired an extensive and particularly unique resumé, which includes experience as a composer, pilot, musician, stable boy, bouncer, producer, and even fashion designer. Eventually, Hedenberg tried his luck at film directing, and found a warm reception for his short film, Mazer World (2001), which featured the music of Danny Elfman and won an award at the 2001 Houston WorldFest, as well as garnering praise from several international film festivals. Hedenberg went on to build a solid reputation within the film industry, including acknowledgement from employees of entertainment goliaths such as Paramount and Columbia, particularly in regards to Behind the Smile, his novel. Hedenberg's 1999 political drama, Lemures, which followed the efforts of four elite international agents to stop a dire Biblical prophecy from occurring, was also a success at the Houston WorldFest. Hedenberg directed Strangeheart (2003), an anarchic, Monty Python-styled parody of Braveheart, as well as the romantic comedy When Hearts Run Wild (2005). The young director is a self-described "average bloke," and prefers to spend his time writing, making films, and frequenting Irish pubs with friends.
