Bill Pope first functioned as a full-fledged cinematographer on Sam Raimi's Darkman (1990). Before entering the film and entertainment industry, the Kentucky-born Pope earned a master's degree in Fine Arts from New York University. Prior to graduation, he shot the documentary The Sixth Week for which he earned an Oscar for Best Student Documentary. For his work on rock singer Sting's music video of "We'll Be Together," Pope received an MTV award for Best Cinematography. His subsequent film credits include Clueless (1995) and the feature-length pilot for the ABC television series Maximum Bob (1998), which was directed by former cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld.
