A ten-time Emmy nominee whose casting choices were essential to the success of such television classics as ER, Friends, The West Wing, Knotts Landing, and Dallas, casting director Barbara Miller's contributions to television and film made stars out of numerous actors and her eye for spotting capable comic talent was virtually unrivaled. Getting her start on television with work as a musical director on The Edge of Night and casting work on The Dutchess and the Dirtwater Fox, it wasn't long before Miller was rising through the ranks to find stars for some of the most well known television shows of the 1980s. In addition to becoming the recipient of the CSA's Hoyt Bowers Lifetime Achievement Award, she also won multiple Artios awards from the Casting Society of America. Miller died of cancer August 24, 2003, in L.A.
