biography
Filmmaker Astrid Henning-Jensen's best known film, which she made in collaboration with her husband Bjarne, is Ditte Menneskebarn (1946). Most of her films center upon issues surrounding women, children, and marriage and are presented in a realistic manner that focuses upon the daily realities of their lives. She began her career in cinema during the '30s as an actress. At the beginning of World War II, she and her husband began making films in Denmark.
