biography
The emergence of Middle Eastern actor Ashraf Barhoum coincided with -- and owed a great deal to -- the heightened pop-culture focus on Middle Eastern tumult during the mid- to late 2000s. Barhoum landed two key roles in significant international productions about conflicts in this region: the 2005 suicide-bomber drama Paradise Now (as a Palestinian terrorist operative) and Peter Berg's counterterrorism drama The Kingdom (2007), as a sympathetic Saudi Arabian police officer.
