biography
British actor/playwright Arthur Macrae made sporadic film appearances from 1937 to 1959. Macrae appeared as Jack Trevor in the 1939 "Sherlock Holmes" entry Silver Blaze, and essayed two different parts in two different 1950s films bearing the title The Horse's Mouth. For the most part, Macrae concentrated on screenwriting, frequently adapting his own theatrical works (e.g. Traveller's Joy). Arthur Macrae also wrote the songs for the 1940 musical Under Your Hat.
