biography
Arthur Knight played a key role in establishing film studies as a valid academic field. A film historian, teacher, author (his book The Liveliest Art is a standard textbook in many film history classes) and critic, Knight taught at USC for many years. Many of his students, including George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and John Carpenter, have gone on to be major Hollywood filmmakers.
