biography
Dr. Arnold Fanck was one of the earliest promoters of Germany's popular mountain films. Arnold was a professional geologist and mountain climber himself, and, following WW I, he began a series of fictional and documentary films about mountain climbing. These films were often made in collaboration with others including Sepp, Allgeier, Riefenstahl, and Pabst.
