biography
A rotund character actress from Poland, Ann Brody (née Goldstein) played in stock and appeared in vaudeville prior to making her screen debut with Vitagraph in 1912. Usually cast as Jewish matrons, Brody enjoyed an interesting departure in the still extant 1919 serial A Woman in Grey, in which she played heroine Arline Pretty's mysterious companion. Very busy throughout the 1920s and early '30s, Brody played everything from immigrant mothers to Spanish duennas but her roles in talkies were insubstantial.
