Arizona native Alex Meraz had some guidance in learning his craft, studying many aspects of performance at the New School for the Arts. In addition to his interest in acting, drawing, painting, and dance, Meraz pursued a love of martial arts, competing in karate and capoeira. Eventually becoming a professional actor, Meraz's big-screen break came in 2009 when he was cast as werewolf Paul in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the second installment in the wildly successful Twilight vampire romance franchise.
