biography
Columbia contractee Abby Berlin paid his dues as assistant director for such major productions as Sahara (1943). Promoted to director in 1945, Berlin was assigned to the studio's "B"-picture division. Here he directed nine consecutive entries of the Blondie series, beginning with Leave It to Blondie (1945) and ending with Blondie's Reward (1948). Abby Berlin remained with Columbia until his retirement, helming several half-hour TV films for the studio's Screen Gems division.
