Cameraman L.B. Abbott began his long career in 1926 as a cameraman's assistant. He became a cameraman in 1943 and worked steadily until the early 1970s. Abbot has filmed many distinguished films, including The Longest Day, Fantastic Voyage, and The Sound of Music. During his career Abbot won four Academy Awards, including one for Logan's Run (1976).
