Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

This is a better-than-average Hong Kong comedy-romance that has more in common with similar U.S. films of the 1950s than it does with current Western trends. Even so, this screenplay won an award at the 1985 Hong Kong Film Festival. The story is about a young man who has been chafing under the yoke of a difficult relationship and finally bucks up and ends his engagement. Just as he is feeling a justifiable release, he meets another young woman, promptly falls in love, and is married faster than he ever thought possible. The bride and groom take off on a supercharged honeymoon and he could not be happier. Then he finds out that his bride is two months pregnant by her former boyfriend. That sets off a series of incidents that raise questions about double standards, gender roles, and simple human feelings.
