Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This "Russian western" takes place during a gold rush in the Altai Mountains. A group of Soviet prospectors (including the heroine) are forced to protect their claim against a gang of outlaws. Despite the "capitalistic" undertones, the film adheres strictly to the party lines: the heroes are staunch proponents of communist collectivism, while the villains are anti-Bolshevik swine. The film's climax is a spectacular forest fire, ignited by a demented Holy Man. Coming to the rescue is a fleet of Soviet fire-fighting planes, unleashing extinguishing bombs with pinpoint accuracy.
