Synopsis by Janiss Garza

June Elvidge plays two sisters, Fanny and Evelyn, in this melodramatic feature. They have been sent to a finishing school by their stepfather (Henry Warwick), who got the money to do so by his fake clairvoyant act. When the sisters find out about the origin of his income, Evelyn wants to join him as his assistant. Fanny, the more serious sister, is disgusted by them both and goes to work as a stenographer for lawyer Bruce Taunton (Frank Mayo). Taunton is out to get all phony clairvoyants because one of them, Esau Brand (Armand Kalisz) caused the death of his mother. Brand also has Fanny and Evelyn's father under his control. A romance blooms between Fanny and Taunton, but they are involved in a car accident. Fanny is killed and Taunton goes crazy. Esau Brand sees this as an opportunity to get Taunton to admit his belief in spiritualism. He has Evelyn appear to Taunton night after night, pretending to be her dead sister. Finally, Taunton goes to shoot himself, wanting only to join Fanny's spirit. Evelyn stops him, while Taunton's chauffeur captures Brand. Because of these incidents, Evelyn is a changed woman, and Taunton comes to love her.
