Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

Shakibey (Sanaz Sehati) and her husband Bahram (Framarz Sedighi) have been trying to have a child for some time. She is a gynecologist, and her inability to conceive is frustrating to her. It is even more frustrating for her husband, and he is considering divorcing her (even though they love one another) because having a child is particularly important to him as an Iranian man, and infertility has long been grounds for divorce in their society. Shakibey gets acquainted with an orphaned girl, and wants to adopt her, which only makes Bahram worry that she'll abandon any effort to conceive. She tells him he is free to make any decision he wants, but she's adopting the girl. She can afford to be assertive in this way only because of the financial independence her professional status gives her.
