In the days before rehabs and Alcoholics Anonymous, attitudes about alcohol addiction were often simplistic and naive, as this silent picture illustrates. After one too many drunken nights on the town, Bryan Goodwin (Carlyle Blackwell) is sent to Tennessee by his father James (Robert Broderick). Bryan, trained as a civil engineer, is on the scene to help with the construction of a dam. There, he falls in love with Jean Elliott (June Elvidge), the sister of Henry Elliott (George Cowl), the man in charge, but he gets drunk and insults her. After this incident, he works hard to make good, and he also helps to reform Elliott, a fellow inebriate. After both men have recovered from their addition to liquor, Jean forgives Bryan.
