Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Director David Schendel explores the legacy of classic American cars in Fidel Castro's Cuba with this documentary that will appeal to automobile enthusiasts and history buffs alike. When the United States established a trade embargo on Cuba in the 1960s, the many Cadillacs and Buicks that had been purchased by the citizens of the Caribbean island country were essentially stranded on foreign soil. As the years passed the cars would gradually become a significant indicator of success and freedom to their Cuban owners. Fascinated by this compelling history, filmmaker Schendel set out to explore just what it was about these remarkable automobiles that transcended borders and transformed them into something much more significant than a simple means of transportation in the eyes of the everyday Cuban.
