Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Debuting on Japanese television in 1992, the series Yu Yu Hakusho Ghost Files managed to include most of the ingredients near and dear to the hearts of animé fans: clever teenagers, ghosts, mystery, and super-heroics. The leading character is 14-year-old Yusuke Urameshi, who while trying to save a younger child gave up his own life. Once he assumes ghostly form, Yusuke bomes a "spirit detective," tracking down and bringing to justice a wide variety of mortal villains. Though Yu Yu Hakusho was released in the U.S. on video in 1995, its American TV bow did not occur until the series was picked up by cable's Cartoon Network in 2003.
