Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This sort of independently produced black and white feature is a new and very rare phenomenon in China, and the fact of it's existence is likely far more significant than the movie itself. In the movie, which could very well be a sociopolitical allegory, a service worker in a mental health facility forms an affectionate but chaste relationship with one of the young female inmates. Everyone else behaves as though heavily sedated, and the head of the hospital claims that every inmate gets "special" care.
