Synopsis by Matthew Tobey
Using money he earned as a cast member on CBS's Cosby, Darien Sills-Evans financed this erotic drama, which he also wrote, produced, directed, and starred in. Sills-Evans plays Dexter, a twentysomething African-American artist who, along with his friend and fellow artist Manny (Bobby Lyle), is living in Den Haag, Holland. Together, the two embark on a journey, exploring love, sex, race, and friendship all amidst a land and culture that is as foreign to them as they are to it. X-Patriots won the Best Feature Drama and Critic's Choice prizes at Chicago's 2001 Angelciti Film Festival.
