In this episode of the History Channel series Wrath of God, which explores different natural disasters through the ages, there is a look at the devastation left behind after a series of tornadoes strikes an area. In 1974, the Midwest and South states were surprised by a series of 148 tornadoes that killed 315 people and hit a total of 13 states. After this, meteorologists began studying this new phenomenon, which they coined super outbreak tornadoes. More recently, super outbreaks have occurred throughout much of the country, especially in the Midwest. Tornado trackers follow one series of super outbreaks from Brandenburg, KY, all the way to Zenia, OH. There are interviews with both survivors and witnesses of these outbreaks and talks with scientists who explain the causes of these super outbreaks and how the weather patterns differ from those of just one tornado.
