Synopsis by Rob Ferrier
The Seabees brought valuable construction and civil engineering skill to the battlefields of World War II, especially in the Pacific, where the primitive conditions of many of the areas in which they fought demanded their unique skills. Often older than the combat troops they supported, these men were called upon to serve directly behind the front lines of World War II, often interrupting their efforts to combat the enemy. Their unofficial motto became "First we dig 'em, then we die in 'em." This video chronicles the efforts of one such battalion as they construct three airfields on Pacific battle grounds.
