Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) goes out on a date with Ross Nelson (Anthony Nelson), the news anchor for Minneapolis' top-rated TV station. Under Nelson's influence, Mary develops a whale of an inferiority complex, becoming more convinced than ever that the newsroom at her own WJM-TV just plain doesn't measure up. This leads to an ethical dilemma that has a trickle-down effect on everyone within Mary's orbit. "WJM Tries Harder" was first telecast on January 5, 1974.
