In this outrageously campy German tragicomedy, a fat middle-aged, singing drag queen finds himself falling in love with an ultra-straight man who is only interested in using him to launch his own singing career. Lola is at the end of his career. Not only has he become flabby and unattractive, he has lost much of his voice. But Lola still believes himself to be a star even though he has been reduced to singing in the worst dives in Berlin's seamiest quarters. When the handsome and studly Hasim comes in looking for advice, Lola immediately falls head-over-heels. Even though he is married to Fatima who is posing as his sister (the whole scam was her idea from the start), Hasim goes along and pretends to love Lola back.
