Originally telecast by Britain's ITV in 1978, the weekly game show Winner Takes All awarded its players 50 points each at the outset of every half-hour episode. The players then wagered their points (and their cash value) on five questions, with odds given on each question (two to one, five to one, etc.) to help multiply the winnings (if any). As indicated by the title, whoever accumulated the largest number of points "won all," including the winnings of the other players. After an absence of several years, Winner Takes All was revived in Britain by the Challenge TV cable service in 1997.
