Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

During the war with America in Vietnam, a young couple who have a little baby are trying to eke out a precarious existence in a small wooden hut on a marsh. One of the ways they assist in the war effort is to grow food for the north Vietnamese soldiers, fighting at some distance from their home. The Americans find out about this couple and start to search them out - particularly one American lieutenant who is single-minded in his determination to kill them. But in spite of the battles that this lieutenant causes and the presence of the war, in which even the woman will become directly involved, the real story is about the simple relationship between the man and wife, trying to care for each other with the horrors of fighting all around them. This film won a gold medal at the 1981 Moscow Film Festival.
