Made by the Cambodian-born Rithy Pahn, who has lived in Paris since he was 15, The Land of the Wandering Souls documents the efforts of Cambodian laborers to lay Southeast Asia's first fiber-optic cable across their country. Pithy made his documentary debut with the 1993 Rice People; The Land of the Wandering Souls was shown at the 2000 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
