Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Filmmaker Meg Jamieson stages a filmed re-enactment of the bloody conflict between the longstanding salt winners of the Songor Lagoon and the foreign-owned Vacuum Salt company in this short film examining the legacy of land tenancy, tribal rights, and the privatization of resources in Ghana. Filmed during the 2007 jubilee that marked the fiftieth anniversary of Ghana's independence, Who Killed Maggie borrows it's title from the book that inspired it and was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Operation Crossroads Africa and the participation of the Ada tribe in Bonikopey.
