Tim Hetherington was a British photojournalist who enjoyed traveling, had a sense of adventure, and was a keen student of human nature. In 1999, after receiving a degree in photojournalism, Hetherington landed an assignment to do a photo story on former Liberian revolutionaries who had become soccer players. He became fascinated with life in West Africa, and spent much of the next eight years documenting the political unrest in the area, as well as the lives of the ordinary people impacted by the fighting. Hetherington developed a reputation as a photographer willing to go where few others would dare, and not afraid to step into the fighting if it meant protecting the innocent. Hetherington moved into filmmaking when he made the documentary Restrepo in collaboration with Sebastian Junger in 2010, but fate put an end to Hetherington's career a year later when he was killed by shrapnel from a mortar shell while covering fighting in Libya. Hetherington's former collaborator Junger pays tribute to his fallen comrade in the documentary Which Way To The Front Line From Here? The Life and Times of Tim Hetherington, which features rare footage and photographs of the celebrated photographer as well as interviews with his friends and colleagues. Which Way To The Front Line From Here? received its world premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
