Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
This autobiographical documentary takes a surprisingly funny, innovative, but realistic look at the political obstacles faced by America's disabled, the largest minority population in our country. It tells the story of Billy Golfus, who suffers brain damage, who quests through a maze of bureaucracy, service organizations, and indifferent professionals, for an active life of dignity, where his intelligence is respected. His quest is daunting as he encounters a myriad of insensitive and biased people. Billy firmly rejects the stereotypical notions that the disabled must be either tragic figures, or unbearably cute and upbeat. Included are interviews that strongly support his assertation.
