Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Bahman Ghobadi, director of the acclaimed Turtles Can Fly, helms this penetrating social expose that answers key questions about the state of Iraq and its people, following the spring 2003 collapse of Saddam Hussein's government. The project arrived not long after the premiere of Ghobadi's 2002 feature Marooned in Iraq; camera-in-hand, Ghobadi set off for Iraq and began documenting the hellish and virtually unlivable conditions suffered through by the Iraqi citizenry in the wake of Saddam's fall.
