Synopsis by Michael McGrath

The video is part of a series of documentaries by the award-winning director and filmmaker Harry Rasky. Each installment examines the impact that the North American First Nations have had on the "discovery" and subsequent colonization of North America by the Europeans. Dispossessed concentrates on the upheaval and relocation of North American tribes as the white man pushed further and further west. The film makes excellent use of both archival and historical material to tell its story. The film's historical and educational goals do not detract from its superb cinematography and craftsmanship.
