Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man who is gifted in cyberspace finds himself losing touch with the rest of the world in this black comedy. Trey (Barry Alan Levine) is a young and successful software engineer working at a top Silicon Valley firm. While Trey is making a good living, he doesn't have much of a life; he works long hours, and his circle of real-world acquaintances is shrinking with each passing day. On the job, Trey is tormented by his supervisor (Joan Bernier), while his attempts to make friends with co-worker Dana (Gillian Chadsey) are misread as crass sexual overtures. At home, Trey has to deal with his clinging mother (also played by Joan Bernier), while his father (Olin Hyde) has become a street person addicted to alcohol. Trey's only diversions are increasingly bizarre fantasies and increasingly unwholesome Internet pornography, until he begins emotionally painting himself into a corner. Want was written and directed by Michael Wohl, himself a software designer best known for creating the widely used editing program Final Cut Pro.
