Composer John Eliot Gardiner leads The Monteverdi Choir, The London Oratory Junior Choir, His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornetts, and The English Baroque Soloists in this performance of Claudio Monteverdi's acclaimed 1610 composition captured live at Basilica di San Marco, Venice. Sopranos Ann Monoyios, Marinella Pennicchi, countertenor Mark Tucker, tenors Nigel Robson and Sandra Naglia, and basses Bryn Terfel and Alastair Miles are also featured in this co-production between BBC TV, Deutsche Grammophon Gessellschaft mbH, and West Eleven Entertainment.
