Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Directed by and starring lower-echelon star Neal Hart, this obscure silent Western depicted a story of betrayal and revenge set in the gold mining town of Nugget. Hart played Jack Dawson, who arrives in town to sell his gold, only to run into the man who once defiled his sister. When Jack returns to his mine, the villain uses a dance-hall floozie to lure him back to town. Soon Jack is falsely accused of murdering the villain's henchman over water rights. The real culprit, however, is a "half-breed" Indian, who Jack brings to justice. Written by Arthur Henry Gooden, The Verdict of the Desert was an ambitious undertaking, too ambitious, in fact, for producer William Steiner, a Gower Gulch entrepreneur who never met a corner he wouldn't cut.
