Stanley Clark (Brooklyn Keller), a handsome young womanizer, puts Marion Grey (Gypsy Abbot) in a compromising position without her knowledge. He keeps the page from a hotel registry containing their names, which comes in handy later when she marries John Loring (Crane Wilbur), a gubernatorial candidate. Loring wins the election, so Clark tries to blackmail Marion. Loring's brother, Richard (Carl Von Schiller) overhears his threats and follows Marion to Clark's apartment. The two men fight, and Marion shoots Clark dead. Richard takes the blame and is sentenced to be executed. John, who has made an issue of never pardoning murderers, is powerless until his wife fesses up to the truth. He rushes in his car down to the prison and halts the execution in the nick of time. He then resigns and he, his wife, and his brother set sail on a ship to start life over again somewhere else. Much was made of the climax to this melodrama, because Loring had to race to the prison at the then-ungodly speed of 65 miles an hour.
