Synopsis

Based on Simone Weil's play, this tale of 17th-century intrigue chronicles a plot -- hatched by the Spanish ambassador and the Neapolitan viceroy -- to annex Venice to Spain. But the plan is imperiled when the chief conspirator has a change of heart.
