Synopsis by Mark Deming

A filmmaker finds that his life is beginning to subtly reflect the movie he's making in this drama from India. For years, it was considered inappropriate for women to appear on the stage in India, so many theater companies featured men who specialized in female roles. In his youth, Chapal Bhaduri was one such performer, but while a tiny handful of traditional theater companies still present plays in this manner, the acceptance of female actors has made him a relic of another age. Abhiroop (Rituparno Ghosh) is a documentarian who working on a film about Bhaduri, and over the course of their interviews the aging actor opens up about the challenges of being a man who performs as a woman on the stage and lives as a woman off the stage. As Abhiroop gets to know Bhaduri better, his own personal life is thrown into turmoil; while he's married to Rani (Churni Ganguly), he's also having an adulterous relationship with his cinematographer, Basu (Indraneil Sengupta), and as he comes to terms with his bisexuality he isn't sure with which partner he wants to commit. Aarekti Premer Golpo (aka Just Another Love Story) was an official selection at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival.
