Synopsis by Michael Hastings
Portuguese for "breaking up," Brazil's Separações charts the hookups, makeups, and yes, breakups of a group of theater professionals living in Rio de Janeiro. The leader of the troupe is splitting from no less than his fifth wife, and begins dalliances with other members of the group, with varying success. Separações took the top prize at the 2003 Mar del Plata Film Festival.
