Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This short British feature contains excerpts from a popular London stage revue which had recently finished its run in the U.S. Shot exactly like a stage play, the film is worthless cinematically, though it does show off several top British entertainers at the peak of their form. Among the revellers are Davy Burnaby, Phyllis Monkman, Gilbert Childs, and Laddie Cliff, who also directed the stage version. Critics were underwhelmed by the film, though kind words were reserved for master of ceremonies Burnaby. Despite its lack of appeal in the U.S., The Co-Optimists was afforded two separate American releases.
