From its title, this movie would appear to be a fictionalized account of the seven months that President Janio ruled Brazil -- elected in the last free plebiscite in that country -- and then resigned. His vice-president took over for a brief three years or so, and then was ousted by a military dictatorship. Rather than focus on Janio, the film is a collage of the early 1960s in Brazil: the music and songs, popular cover-girls, the antics of teenagers and other youth, and after an insert in which symbols like "Uncle Sam" are meant to add a kind of comic relief, the leader of the Workers' Party offers a political statement. The issue of why Janio resigned is not addressed, in fact, Janio himself is irrelevant to the movie.
