The battleship that was to become the U.S.S. Arizona was launched in June of 1915 at the New York Navy Yard. On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes bombed the ship in Hawaii. It sank in just nine minutes, killing 1,177 American sailors. Filmed 50 years after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, this documentary originally aired on the A&E cable network, and chronicles the history of the U.S. Navy battleship. Highlights include interviews with several of the 335 men who survived, underwater clips of the rusting hulk at the bottom of Pearl Harbor, and scenes of former Arizona officer Joseph Langdell accepting a floral wreath in memory of the ship's entombed crew from former Japanese Lt. Commander Zenji Abe, a pilot who dropped a bomb on the Arizona.
