Synopsis by Janiss Garza

District attorney and gubernatorial candidate John Wilson (William Pike) has made an enemy of political boss Larry McCarthy (Andrew Robson). McCarthy destroys Wilson's campaign, and Wilson turns to the bottle. While the former DA's career hits the skids, McCarthy woos his wife, Kate (Beatriz Michelena). Wilson comes to believe he is nothing but a burden to Kate and disappears. McCarthy steps in but grows tired of her after his former mistress, a cabaret singer named Estelle (Irene Outtrim), returns to him. He and Kate have an argument that turns physical. In a daze, the battered woman shoots him. Wilson returns to find McCarthy's dead body and takes the blame for the murder. A doctor uses hypnotism to restore Kate's shattered memory, and just before the verdict, she bursts into the courtroom and tells what really happened. Wilson is let off, and the prosecutor, believing that Kate would never be convicted, lets her go too. The couple -with Wilson presumably over his alcoholism -- are reunited. This picture was based on the stage play by Edwin Milton Royle.
