Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This program is part of a series that examines some of the most unusual events and people that were part of the World War II experience. The stories are told using archival film footage, photographs, personal accounts, and scholarly commentary. This episode concerns the short life of Geli Raubel, who died by her own hand. She was the daughter of Hitler's step sister, and she came to live in the Fuhrer's household when she was 16. It is said that Hitler, who developed an unnatural interest in her, was the reason she took her own life at the age of 23.
