Synopsis by Alice Day
This series of programs is directed at the high school to college-level science student with an interest in ecology, geology, and environmental studies. Unique Continent - Australian Environmental Studies: Plants Through the Ages provides an overview of Australia's environment from its origins through modern times and offers a look at its possible future. When the continent was new, rainforests covered part of its terrain with the lush plant growth typical of such ecosystems. As time passed, Australia experienced dryer weather, and in its present condition is characterized by its desert regions and infertile soils.
