Synopsis by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Based on Alfred Jarry's stage play, Ubu & the Great Gidouille is an animated feature film by Jan Lenica. The story follows Ubu, who overtakes the kingdom of Poland and proceeds to terrorize the country. Eventually, the citizens of Poland revolt, forcing Ubu to flee to Paris. Ubu & the Great Gidouille is an off-beat animated feature, filled with black humor, and designed for adult audiences, not children.
