Intolerance wasn't the only mid-1910s picture in which a theme carried over several different eras. In fact, it wasn't even being made yet when actress Elsie Janis came up with the story for this picture which starred -- who else? -- herself. First, Janis is a Stone Age maiden, Lithesome, who is being pursued by caveman Long Biceps (Owen Moore, who, at the time, was married to superstar Mary Pickford), much to the chagrin of her father, Hard Muscle (Hobart Bosworth, who also directed). The next segment takes place during Civil War times, in which Prudence Allen of Boston (Janis again) wins the heart of a Southerner (Moore again). Lastly, in "modern times," writer Marian Gordon (Janis once more), in an attempt to gain more life experience, goes to work as a maid in the home of a publisher (Bosworth) and straightens out his ne'er-do-well son (Moore yet again). While this certainly was no Intolerance, it was an entertaining bit of fluff.
